Pregnancy Signs And Symptons

One of the things of becoming pregnant is getting the early care you need as soon as possible. Whenever you can, prenatal care should begin before you even get pregnant so if you’re planning to have a baby, this is a good idea. However, there are some times when babies come as “surprises” and you have to begin your care as soon as you find out about the new arrival.

Recognizing the pregnancy signs is very important to getting the early prenatal care that you need and that your baby desperately deserves. If you weren’t planning to get pregnant, it might be a shocker at first. Or maybe you are starting to show the signs but you don’t believe pregnancy could be an option so you overlook them.

Or perhaps you have been trying to get pregnant for some time and you want to be aware of what the early pregnancy signs are so you can get tested as soon as you start to show them. Whatever your particular case is, it’s important to learn the signs.

Some of the signs of pregnancy are physical and others will be emotional as hormones play a big role in pregnancy. Here are some of the most common pregnancy signs that you should look for:

  • Light/ moderate spotting
  • Increase in body temperature
  • Missed period
  • Nausea
  • Exhaustion/ fatigue
  • Frequent urination
  • Tender breasts and nipples

Moderate spotting often occurs as one of the earliest signs of pregnancy. This is why many women don’t recognize it as they think it is just their regular period coming on or something. It’s usually brownish in color and light in flow so many women just think it is pre-menstrual spotting.

Another possible sign of pregnancy that you may see early on is increased body temperature. This can be reflected by your core temperature when you check it with a thermometer and you may also start feeling “heat flashes” or feeling hotter throughout the day.

Nausea or “morning sickness” is another early pregnancy sign that many women face. However, this morning sickness can come at any time of the day. While most experience it in the morning or near breakfast time, you may feel it at any time of day or even before, after and during any meals.

For many women, the first sign of pregnancy is the missed period. A missed or late period, especially when you are usually very regular, could be a sign that you are pregnant. This is a good time to get a pregnancy test and find out for sure.

You could also have the urge to urinate more often. This happens in all stages of pregnancy but is most common in the beginning when hormones are changing and then again at the end when a baby could be pressing on the bladder.

You may also find that your breasts and nipples are sore, tender or even a bit swollen. This is another hormone thing as your body adjusts and prepares for pregnancy. This can continue on and off throughout the different stages of pregnancy as well.

You can feel more tired than usual, unable to get around and do things you once did or you may feel outright exhaustion that you cannot explain any other way. This often happens in early pregnancy and throughout other stages of the pregnancy.

Then there are also some pregnancy signs that are not always present with every person but can be present throughout the different stages of pregnancy. For example, cravings for unusual foods or foods that you would not regularly eat can be present during all stages of pregnancy.

Some women find that they become overly sensitive to certain smells during pregnancy, particularly the early stages of pregnancy. You may be repelled by the smell of something you once enjoyed. Women who smoke sometimes find they are repulsed by the smell of cigarette smoke. This might even be a type of defense mechanism for the baby.

All of these possible signs of pregnancy can come individually or you may experience multiple pregnancy signs at once and throughout the duration of your pregnancy.

If you have any of these signs and suspect that you might be pregnant, it is suggested that you see a doctor right away to be tested for sure. The earlier you know, the sooner you can begin with the much needed prenatal treatment.
